Bilk Gallery 'ring a ding ding' Christmas Exhibition

5 December 2014

Bilk Gallery in Palmeston Lane is a wonderland of tiny treasures in the run up to Christmas and to say thank you to loyal customers and celebrate the exhibition ‘Ring a ding ding’ a sidewalk party had a few eyes popping at both the treasures and a Queen. Yes, the Queen of the Nite, danced her way up and down the lane in a short body hugging little bit of denim shirtwaister with patent boots laced up to her never mind, a sparkly microphone that Beyonce would love and an exotic oriental fan to add staccato snaps to her routine.

And the big finish was a photo opportunity splits where that little denim shirtwaister lifted higher than expected, but our Queen didn’t bat an overloaded eyelid, she just sprang up and smiled for the applause from a supportive crowd.
Is this what we need to lift the spirits of Christmas shoppers, overloaded with angst and ennui as the pressure builds. Maybe it is. A bit of frivolity is always a circuit breaker and with a glass of Christmas cheer a few nibbles the whole sidewalk party theme kept a steady stream oohing and aahing through this gorgeous little gallery.

I found two perfect rings created by Johannes Kuhnen; a black diamond set in gold and a tanzanite set in titanium to lust for while Sandie Lee’s necklaces are the perfect accessory for your best black. The Klaus Moje bowl that was so gobsmackingly beautiful and right out of my ballpark should go to a good home. And if you want to be fashion forward the lapel brooches for blokes are the most on trend gift for the season and for girls go for colour. You can never have too much bling and baubles bangles and beads are the stuff of stocking stuffers.
