Canberra Museum and Gallery 20th Anniversary Exhibition

23 March 2018

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this week was the Canberra Museum and Gallery. It’s the little museum in the city that grew and grew to become a significant part of our cultural life. ‘20 years of collecting visual art at CMAG’ is an exhibition curated by Deborah Clarke with 180 works on display from what is now a formidable collection of over 6,000 items which Clarke has delved into for her final exhibition at CMAG after many wonderful and memorable exhibitions.

It is a must see with familiar names from our talented local artists, works that reflect the district as it was and is now and more, with the oldest work from the collection a hand coloured aquatint by Joseph Lycett of ‘View of Lake George, New South Wales, from the north east’ created in 1925. The Lake has never looked so lush and green in my memory!
