Canberra Symphony Orchestra: Beatles SymphonyShare Event on Facebook Share Event on Twitter Share Event on LinkedIn
If you went to a Beatles Concert way back when they first came to Australia then the Saturday arvo at Llewellyn Hall for the Beatles in Symphony concert would have been the icing on the cake for all those wonderful memories you bring out to make the grandchildren know you were part of the swinging sixties even if you can’t fit into the mini or the flares.
It was fun and fab, with the CSO team making the effort to dress up and conductor Guy Noble not only making a fashion statement in a Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band red outfit, yes the one worn by George Harrison, but also affecting a Liverpool accent and getting this audience to sing their hearts out.
The music was magnificent and the arrangements superb, a salutary reminder for many that the songbook of the Beatles is formidable, and it keeps on giving especially with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
The crowd loved it and a full house at Llewellyn Hall showed just what the punters like.
