CAPO Sponsor's Cocktail Party 2017

9 September 2017

CAPO, Patrons for the Arts, has come a long way in its 34 years. But true to its initial beginnings it still is the premier fundraiser for and by the Arts community, with extensive business support and the ever evolving Arts Community donating works for the auctions, that goes back to them all in a variety of grants, fellowships, awards and opportunities for all to extend their talents.

It started as a major and very glamorous ball, with an eclectic mix of covetable auction items, and after 34 years and a variety of changes still has that auction at the core of its fundraising with a night to frock up and peruse the art works of familiar and well established artists among the new and emerging vying for the practised eye of the CAPO supporters. And this year promises some fabulous works, just right for the discerning and those who “don’t understand art but know what they like”.

To say thank you to supporters the CAPO Board now includes a preview of the donated works at a cocktail party at the Canberra Museum and Gallery with all the works on display but not as yet available for bids. Bidding will be underway at this year’s ‘Puttin’ on the Glitz’ event at CMAG on Friday 22 September where MC and Patron Paul McDermott will be back in his favourite role as star of the show where this year he promises to “warble with the Big Band”.
