Foundation Day for Canberra Southern Cross Club

27 September 2015

Foundation Day is a new event on the Canberra Southern Cross Club’s social calendar and celebrates the beginnings of the club established in 1972 that has grown to be now four club venues, five health clubs and the MV Southern Cross.

It has a proud reputation for being the club for families and community groups with an across the board commitment to many organisations that depend on the CSCC’s financial support. Significant is their dispensing with poker machines in the Yacht Club but there is no denying that financial success has come from poker machines.

For the first celebration of Foundation Day the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club was the venue for a family day on the lawns by the lake and fortuitously the sun shone, the breeze was but a whisper and the festivities kept everyone entertained. For the VIP’s the CSCYC marquee – once thought to be a temporary annexe that has now become a permanent fixture – hosted many of the original club members including the Sky Plaza members who live next door to the original club and enjoy its facilities and the board of the club who make sure it continues to be the club they intended.

As a special treat the MV Southern Cross set sail to Floriade Night Fest after the festivities with a late afternoon drinks and eats opportunity for invited guests and a drop off and pick up to suit. Good foundations now established for an annual celebration.
