With a twinkle in her eye, a no nonsense attitude and surrounded by her family, it was a lunch organised by that extended family at the BoatHouse for Marjorie Sinclair’s 90th birthday that celebrated a day to remember.
Manchester born, her escape to Australia – as she called it – brought happiness with marriage to Andrew, family that now includes her four children and seven grandchildren and a life lived loving the outdoors as well as a talent for the best roast dinners in her neighbourhood.
Marjorie loved sailing for the Northbridge Yacht Club, skiing at Thredbo, even when expecting her twins, and bushwalking were her favourite outdoor activities while her domestic excellence extended to the best hand knits, clothes whipped up on her trusty sewing machine and prize winning fancy dress costumes from this creative mum.
You get the picture Marjorie Sinclair would not be fazed by a request for a dinosaur suit and a plate of pikelets at the last minute. Her grandchildren love a visit to see her, knowing she’ll have a ready supply of their favourite treats despite admonishment from her own children, but we all know it’s a given that grandparents are allowed to spoil their grandchildren.
The gathering of this clan had Marjorie front and centre with a hooray for a special day and obvious pleasure in a life lived to the full by a lady who loves being a wife and mum and a favourite grandmother.
