Russell Kennedy Lawyers has joined with Legal Aid ACT to form a new Employment Law Clinic. And no it’s not to create and enhance employment opportunities for lawyers but to spread the knowledge and talent of both RK and Legal Aid to ensure those most in need can get access to free, expert advice about employment and workplace issues.
To announce the partnership, a cocktail function at RK Lawyers' city office invited legal practitioners from across the city’s stakeholders, with Victor Harcourt RK’s Melbourne based leader of the firm-wide pro-bono team joining Heidi Yates, head of Legal Aid’s General Practice to tell of the benefits of the initiative. And that’s where this specialist clinic will be a boon to those most in need of help. They have been identified as the young, those from non English speaking backgrounds, those with a disability, parents returning to work after the birth of a child and domestic violence victims.
It’s a positive approach to needs and another feather in the cap of RK Lawyers who are proud of the work they do in the NFP arena and are already set up to operate on Fridays at Legal Aid where they’ll provide the expert training and support. For those who need a clinic appointment call the Legal Aid Helpline 1300 654 314.
It’s the kind of service people need to know about.
