Wrap Up @ Lonsdale Street Traders

30 July 2014

Wrap Up is a pop up in the Craft ACT Pod at Lonsdale St. Traders where the delightful, the whimsical, creative and colourful creations of textile artists Belinda Jessup, Julie Ryder and Melanie Olde are on display and for sale.

There for just a short time the least it will do is brighten up your winter wear with luminous and lustrous colours in Melanie Olde’s scarves and wraps, keep the tootsies warm with Julie’s pure merino socks and beautifully accessorise with Belinda’s luxurious hand woven silk, wool and cotton wraps.

These girls are friends and colleagues obviously benefitting from this small outlet that Craft ACT provides for artists to use and keeping the public aware of the many talented artists in this region. Encouraging a larger craft retail space that is targeted for visitors and locals alike has to be in future planning and the traders space exemplifies the need to expand.

A soft opening on a winter night showed that despite the almost ad hoc approach to the mix of businesses, residential and the old world charm of a semi industrial space that is Lonsdale Street, it works for all the wrong reasons. A bit of grunge amongst the on trend is a good thing.
